The Local Shop is a location in Royston Vasey. It was the home of Tubbs and Edward, in which they kept their wares for Local People.
Physical Appearance[]
The Local Shop is a Victorian-esque building with a small area for animals on one side. The interior looks like a typical corner shop from the 1950s, with everything in vintage-style packaging. There is a set of strange items in jars next to the till, alongside the snowglobes (the frequently mentioned 'Precious Things'). There is a kitchen by the Animal Pen, and upstairs there is an attic in which David is kept after his transformation. On the wall by David's room is Tubbs and Edward's Medieval Wedding picture.
Appearance[]
Series One[]
The Shop is the home of the stranger-fearing Tubbs and Edward, who murder 'non-locals' who dare enter the Local Shop. This includes Martin, Benjamin's friend, who is soon followed by a Police Officer who was looking for him. Soon afterwards, work begins on a New Road that threatens the shop. The workmen, Mr Wynt and Mr Kidd, give them papers to relocate the shop, which Edward almost signs - however, this plan is foiled as the two make a comment about how many people (non-local people) would be visiting the shop. This results in them being tarred and made to watch Tubbs as she danced naked. Afterwards, they are freed but Edward swiftly goes after them with a crossbow, promising Tubbs that 'They won't get far!'.
Despite Edward's promises that there would be no more disruption from strangers, the shop is shaken when the workmen come. However, when David (their son) arrives at the shop, he admits that he is the owner of the company building the new road, and simply wanted to bring them closer together (as he no longer lived in Royston Vasey). He offers to take the two on a trip to London - Edward refuses, but Tubbs is more than willing to go with him. Despite this, the road's construction is cancelled after Edward makes David remain "local".
Series Two[]
Benjamin was a "friend" for David, who was now a monster in the attic, but he escaped one night.
As Tubbs is tending to the chicks, she is interrupted by Haigh who asks her if he could buy a can of Coke. She is very confused by this, and the confusion only escalates as Edward arrives, with the two believing he is there to release their son (when he was talking about the Sun). He is then forcibly chosen as David's new friend.
After they do the inventory Edward decides that they need to find David a mate. They steal the land rover of a medic, and drive down to Royston Vasey. After several attempts they kidnap Barbara, and after bringing her back, they hold a wedding at Tubbs' insistence. The wedding day was simple with the shop covered in candles with refreshments of Dog Turds - they even had a witness in the form of an old man tied up (he was the something old). However, just as the honeymoon begins, an angry mob led by Benjamin arrives at the shop and breaks the front window, believing that they were responsible for the nosebleeds. Barbara attempts to confront the group, however, upon seeing David's shadow, the mob set the shop alight - Tubbs, Edward and David were killed by the flames as the shop collapsed. The burning building is seen from the surrounding roads.
Series Three[]
The Ruins are seen when Barbara still in grief over David has laid a Memorial Wreath before leaving, showing off her pregnancy bump. Tubbs and Edward are then seen climbing out of the rubble. They decide to go to London, following the 'New Road', which due to Tubbs' poor understanding of what a road is ('Lines and lines and lines..') quickly reveals itself to be train tracks as the two get flattened by an incoming train.
Afterwards, the shop is seen once again in Episode Two for the opening scene.
Anniversary Special[]
Ruins of the shop still remains over a decade and a half since the fire. It is later revealed that Edward and Tubbs survived the train, and set up a new shop in a derelict apartment block in which they would later take hostages as a protest against Royston Vasey's erasure.

After Mickey grows a Beanstalk, he climbs up hoping to end the show. He ends up climbing to the Local Shop, which is now particularly large due to Edward being a giant.
